Frequently Asked Questions:

Online and Mobile Banking Services FAQs:

Why am I locked out?

Generally, it’s because either the username or the password was entered incorrectly. They are both case-sensitive.

How often will my password expire?

Your password will expire every six months. You will be notified the first time you log in after the password has expired.

If I open a new account, how do I add it to my online banking?

All of your personal accounts will automatically appear in your online banking. You don’t have to do anything to add them.

Why am I being asked to verify my login for GoBanking?

For your security and account protection, the first time you log into Go Banking from a new device, you will be prompted to verify your identity by receiving a one-time verification code via the email or phone number on file.

This extra layer of security helps protect your account from unauthorized access. Once you enter the code and choose to trust the device, you shouldn’t be asked to verify again when logging in from that same device in the future.

If you’re logging in from a trusted device but still being asked to verify, check your browser settings to ensure cookies are enabled or try updating your saved login preferences. If you need assistance, our team is happy to help! Contact us anytime for support.

I don't remember my password. What do I do?

You can click on the “Forgot Password” link and receive a temporary password by email. You can also call us, and we can give you a temporary password.

How can I transfer money from my Mercer Savings account to my account/loan at another bank?

With Go Banking, you can now use External Transfer to securely move money between your Mercer Savings Bank account and accounts you own at other financial institutions.

Select External Transfer from your menu, enter the routing number and account number and follow the prompts to complete the transfer.

Once your external account is set up, you can make transfers whenever you need—quickly and securely! If you have any questions, we’re here to help.

Why can't I log in to my mobile app?

In most cases, this is because your online banking is locked. We can unlock your online account, and if necessary, give you a temporary password that you can use to log in and change it. This must be done through your online banking. You can’t change your password within the mobile app.

Why aren't my payments sent electronically?

The method of payment (electronic, single check, or draft check) is determined by whether the payee is set up to receive electronic payments, your payment history, recent activity, and the amount of your payment.

VISA® Platinum Credit Cards & Mastercard® Debit Card FAQs:

Which is safer to use: a debit or credit card?

Debit and credit cards can both be used safely. Regardless of the one you use, it’s important to keep basic security safeguards in mind.

Be selective and only use cards to pay trusted sellers.

If you do use a credit card, be diligent and know you’ll need to pay the bill each month to avoid accumulating interest and debt.

What are the potential safety risks of using a debit card?

Debit cards can potentially provide access to your entire bank account and may not come with the same fraud protection that credit cards usually do. Follow our safety tips below when using your debit card.

What are safety tips to follow when using your debit card?

  • Only use debit cards to pay at trusted stores or locations.

  • Don’t share your debit card information (including PIN number) with anyone.

  • Treat your card like a blank check.

How do debit and credit cards get hacked?

There are a few ways debit and credit cards can be hacked. One is a physical device, called a skimmer, that can read your card’s information when you swipe it.

Another way is through information theft from online checkouts, where your information can be hacked.

Thieves can also fraudulently request your information via emails that look like your bank or another trusted source.

How can I protect my debit or credit card from being hacked?

First, don’t use your card at sites or stores you don’t trust. If the card reader looks strange or the instructions seem suspicious, don’t use it.

Second, make sure you’re using the latest available technology – cards with chips instead of a magnetic stripe are less vulnerable to hacking.

Third, if you receive a phone call or email asking for your information, triple-check that it’s actually what it appears to be. Don’t click any links in an email, and if in doubt, look up the website separately and call to ask if the email is legitimate.

And fourth, make sure you’re regularly checking your bank statement to watch for unauthorized charges.
