This month’s Mercer Savings Bank Giving Mission recipient is Marion Local School District. Not only does the school boast impressive academics and a highly-ranked sports program, it’s the alma mater for many bank employees.
About Marion Local School District
Marion Local is known as one of the top-ranked schools in the state. And their athletic program hardly needs an introduction, with a variety of football, volleyball, track and field, and basketball state championships acquired over the decades.
But beyond athletics, the school exists to put students first. That’s why the Giving Mission funds will go toward student council programs for both the junior high and high school.
Superintendent Mike Pohlman noted that these programs have an impact on all students throughout the district. Several examples of student-council-funded activities include:
- Homecoming
- Veterans Day assembly
- Blood drives
- Career Day
- Holiday decorating
“We definitely want to thank Mercer Savings Bank for their generous donation. On behalf of the entire district, we are greatly appreciative,” said Pohlman.
Giving to Marion Local
The school district accepts donations of both money and physical items throughout the year. Gifts can be made by both individuals and businesses by contacting any of the following:
- Mike Pohlman, superintendent
- Amy Reineke, treasurer
- Tim Goodwin, high school principal
- Nick Wilker, elementary school principal
“We can then get the process started to accept that donation through our Board of Education meeting and work with the organization making the donation on how we would plan to utilize that gift,” said Pohlman.
